Who Stops By at Jeans 'n Classics?

As August races toward September, Jeans 'n Classics remains in "summer mode". Most orchestras take it easy in the summer, so things get quieter for J'nC. Our vocalists are still busy with their other projects, as all are session singers and songwriters with full careers away from J'nC. And many in the band work steadily throughout the summer on festival stages or doing theatre work.

While Jeans 'n Classics takes a break from concerts in July and August, the business of the company continues apace. Orchestras with whom we will make appearances in the 2011-2012 season are in frequent contact to make sure that travel and accommodations are booked, media packages are in place and artist bios are ready to go to print for the season's programme. As a matter of fact, traffic on the Jeans 'n Classics website is fairly consistent during the summer months.

This summer we've averaged about 300 visits per week, with the exceptions being the two weeks in July where we presented concerts (each of those weeks had the sort of heavy patron traffic we would normally experience during the orchestral season). About 20% of the traffic is "direct" traffic, therefore from folks who have us bookmarked. 10% of the visits come from referring sites, while about 70% of those who come to us do so through a search engine. Google remains the search engine of choice, though a few of you do use Bing and Yahoo.

Technically speaking, about 37% of you use Explorer as your browser, but Safari is right behind at about 35%. Firefox comes in at about 17%.

About 60% of the visits are from Canadians, but Americans will often be the bulk of the website traffic during the season, reflecting our heavy travel schedule in the U.S.

I always find it interesting to see what people are putting in their search engines. We get Jeans 'n Classics and all of its derivatives: Jeans and Classics; Classics and Jeans; Jeans & Classics. And weekly there are a few visits from people who were actually looking for new jeans. This week the data shows that nine visitors who really were looking for "classic jeans" wound up at the website.

As well, in my mailbox at Ask John Regan I frequently get junk mail from denim manufacturers who wish to do business with, as one sortee put it, "...such a reputable blue jean manufacturer as Jeans 'n Classics".

While summer provides a wee respite from the concert stage, life at Jeans 'n Classics continues with preparations for the upcoming season. Take a look around the revamped website and let us know what you think.
