And We're Off.....

The 2011-2012 orchestra season is under way. Jeans 'n Classics headed this past weekend to Marshall Texas, where, for the fifth year in a row, we joined the Marshall Symphony Orchestra for a night of music on the main street downtown. This year we performed "It Came From the Jersey Shore", a show highlighting the sounds of Bruse Springsteen, Jon BonJovi and Frankie Valli. The concert starred Jean Meilleur, David Blamires and Neil Donell, as well as Rique Franks and Katalin Kiss.

Here's what today's Marshall News Messenger had to say about the show...

A large portion of the Marshall community filled North Washington Avenue as Jeans ‘n Classics and the Marshall Symphony Orchestra rocked the stage while entertaining the audience Saturday evening—all to benefit a great cause.

“It is going great,” said Jeans N’ Classics Coordinator Tiffany Ammerman. “It is hard to tell if it is the biggest crowd tonight, but I do know we doubled our number of participants Friday.”

Attendees Friday night got caught up in the special event and brought plenty of enthusiasm for enjoying the music, itself a celebration of the Marshall Symphony Orchestra’s 60th year.

“It is the main kickoff event for both the Marshall Symphony Society and the Marshall Symphony Orchestra,” she added. “And we wanted to incorporate a show that would appeal to both a young and old audience.”

Participants who purchased tables dined on meals from OS2,Central Perks, R&R Bakery, and The Blue Frog Grill while listening to the unique collaboration between the Canadian-bred band Jeans N’ Classics and the music of the Marshall Symphony Orchestra.

Jeans N’ Classics is a band comprised of 10 members whose concept of combining rock musicians and headlining stars with world-class symphony orchestras has drawn record setting capacity crowds.

This year’s concert, titled “It Came From the Jersey Shore” featured the music of Jon Bon Jovi, Bruce Springsteen, and Franki Valli.

“Tonight is madness, in a good way,” said Jeans N’ Classics Keyboardist John Regan. “We have played in front of an audience of 15,000 before, but it is nothing like they do in Marshall.”

Regan said Saturday night’s gig is the Jeans N’ Classic’s first of the season, and band members are thrilled to start off in Marshall.

After the show, its pizza!
“Orchestras go to sleep over the summer, so this, for us, is the kick off of the fall season,” he said. “And we love it in Marshall. Everyone is so warm and welcoming, and nobody does it quite like they do here in Marshall.”

Later this week I'll post plenty of great shots from Marshall.
