Jeans 'n Classics in Erie Pa.

So close and yet so far. That's Erie Pennsylvania, home of the Erie Philharmonic Orchestra, our hosts last weekend for "Don't Stop Believin': The Music of the 80's". Erie is just across Lake Erie from us, probably 60 or 70 miles as the crow flies. It's just that the lake is a wee obstacle when it comes to driving there. So from London we head down through Niagara, through Buffalo and on to Erie- more than four hours!

Last Saturday's show was a hybrid of several shows on the Jeans 'n Classics roster, put together by conductor Daniel Meyer and Erie Phil adminstrators, along with the sage wisdom of our Peter Brennan.

Singers included Stephanie Martin, Kathryn Rose, Andrea Koziol, Gavin Hope and Michael Shotton. An audience of about 1900 filled the beautiful Warner Theatre, and they were in a great mood! Show highlights icluded the title tune, "Don't Stop Believin'", "Walk Like an Egyptian", as well as five songs that featured the 85-member Erie Philharmonic Chorus.

The evening was loads of fun. The encore was a rendition of Michael Jackson's "Man in the Mirror", featuring all of the vocalists, as well as the Chorus. Rousing, to be sure!

We're back in Erie next season, and the patrons will be using an online poll to select the Jeans 'n Classics show that they'd like to see. Very cool.
